 During my free time, most of the time I spend reading books 📓. But recently, without considering differences such as religion ✝️☸️🕉️☪️, race, or language, I started watching different kinds of films 🎞️📽️ and short films 🎦. Honestly, it is very enjoyable. Just like books, I realized that there are many things we can learn from films as well.

Alright then, now let’s see what this “something new” is 🌝

“Two-Storey School” 🏫 is a beautiful film that I watched with both happiness and sadness 😫😣 from beginning to end. Especially because I am also someone who grew up in a village since childhood, I could relate to it deeply.

This film was created on 17th February 2023 and directed by Lalith Rohitha. The main character is “Banda”, and “Soma” is another important character around him.

Two-Storey School💗

In reality, we often only see the beauty of villages 🌳🍀. But when we look deeper, we can see that the people living there, especially the children, go through very difficult 😪 and harsh lives.

This film shows how, after the village school was closed, a village elder teaches children how to read and write ✍️. Most importantly, it shows how a young boy named Banda, who grows up without his parents 👪️ under the care of his stepmother, leaves the village, succeeds in life, and later returns to his hometown 🍂.

From childhood, Soma was unable to express her loving feelings to Banda 🥹.

“Thank you so much. That day, you were the only one who didn’t laugh at me…” 🥹

This is one of my favorite lines.

Soma waited a long time for Banda. Another touching detail is how Soma secretly prepares kurakkan roti 🫓 for Banda every day and hides it for him.

At the end of the film, when Banda returns to the village school as a special guest, Soma has become a teacher 💓.

These words feel magical—truly beautiful.

This film teaches us to love the environment, be courageous, never give up, understand sensitive hearts, and recognize both kindness and cruelty in people. It gives a strong message about life and learning.

It can truly be presented as an outstanding creation 💖.

Silent 🌊 Waves 🐚.

One day, it so happened that I had to go to Colombo suddenly. I thought, “Finally, I can go see the sea 🌊.” But since I hadn’t been able to go for many years, I really felt a strong desire to visit the ocean 🥹.

 When I got close to the sea, I felt an amazing joy and a sense of freedom 🕊️. Honestly, it was truly breathtaking 😯. 🩵 The blue sea sparkled beautifully, and a wave rushed toward us as if telling us to quickly float back 🤭🫣. But then, as the wave gently reached our feet 👣, it receded again 🥹.

After a little while, I finally started doing what I had been longing for 🐚—collecting seashells. No matter how sunny 🌞⛅ it was, I didn’t care at all 🥹, because the sea is one of my favorite places. I found many seashells I had never seen before 🤭. Each one had beautiful colors, and I eagerly kept collecting more and more.

I looked around to see if there were any coconut 🌴 trees. 😌 But there weren’t any. Still, we stayed by the sea for a long time 🏝️, enjoying every moment.

Even on the way back home, I was full of happiness. The reason was that, unexpectedly, we got to visit the sea and explore the little pond nearby 🤭🤭🌊.

Solitude 🌬💆‍♀.

 The thing I love most in my life is living in solitude. Overthinking is a part of who I am. The main reason I feel that solitude is good is because I am the one who loves myself the most, listens to myself, makes myself happy, and comforts myself. 😌💖 Although being alone can feel a bit sad 😢, I always believe that solitude is more peaceful than people in this world think.

Most of the time ⏱️, I like to go for walks. At those moments, my mind 💆‍♀🕊️ feels free. Every day, I go outside at night. When I go out, I always look up at the sky. I don’t look for anything else, just to see if the moon 🌚🌛 and the stars ✨ have come out. Most of the time, the moon appears alone, or I feel like the stars must be very lonely, and sometimes that makes me feel sad. At those moments, I sing a small song 🎙️ to comfort them. Often, when I look at the sky, I remember the lesson about the sublime that our drama teacher taught us 📚.

At first, when we look at the sky, the stars, and the moon, we feel happiness and see beauty in them. But when we keep looking for a long time, it becomes an experience filled with awe 🤯 and wonder 😯. There is something beyond beauty—something astonishing and unimaginable hidden within it. Honestly, every time I gaze at the sky, I am amazed 😯.

Anyway, any person who embraces solitude deeply becomes either a good poet or a good storyteller.

Poverty in Sri Lanka 🥺😔.

 Sri Lanka is a country rich in natural beauty. However, despite this beauty, a portion of its people still live under conditions of poverty. Simply put, poverty is the inability to fulfill basic human needs. 🥺

Poverty refers to the condition where people are unable to meet basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and education. It is not only an economic issue but also a social and psychological problem.

Sembuwaththa Lake💧🍃.

 Among the beautiful natural places in Sri Lanka, one of the most attractive places and also one of my favorite destinations is Sembuwatta Lake. It is located in the Matale District, in the area of Elkaduwa. We started our journey early in the morning and finally reached this beautiful lake located among the mountains, surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery. It is a very attractive place that captures the hearts of many visitors. 🌄

Natural Beauty 🌳

When talking about the natural beauty, the peaceful environment around Sembuwatta Lake truly captured my heart. Green forests, mountains, and tea plantations surround the lake, creating a calm and beautiful atmosphere. Because of this, it provides a quiet and relaxing environment for visitors. The fresh air, cool climate, and stunning views are some of the special features of this place. In my opinion, it is a perfect destination for those who love to enjoy nature. 🍃
